About St. Croix...
(pronounced Sint Croy)

Area Code (340)

Main town: Christiansted
Major airport: Rohlson

St Croix, at 84 square miles, is the largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands. It has arid, rocky terrain in the east and is lushly tropical in the west - the intervening land is rolling upland pasture. The principal towns are Christiansted on the northeast shore and Fredericksted on the west coast. St. Croix is 40 miles south of St. Thomas.

Christiansted, the capital, lies on a beautiful coral-bound bay, and was once the capital of the Danish West Indies, as is attested by its old, Danish-style buildings. Among the many things to do, see and visit is the island's breathtaking underwater national park at Buck Island.
